What is UBRA – and how does it involve me?
The U Bremen Research Alliance (UBRA) is a collaboration between the University of Bremen and thirteen non-university research institutes funded by the federal and state governments. It includes research institutes from the four major German science organizations – the Fraunhofer Society, the Helmholtz Association, the Leibniz Association, and the Max Planck Society – as well as the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.
Together, the fourteen members of the Alliance develop shared strategies, establish joint professorships, and support early-career researchers through graduate programs, dedicated junior research groups, and collaborative initiatives such as the AI Center for Health Care or the continuing education program Data Train – Training in Research Data Management and Data Science.
Through active exchange between members, sharing of best practices, where possible the development of common standards, and the joint use of research infrastructure, we aim to leverage and actively pursue the synergies created by the Alliance.

In the Research Data Working Group of the U Bremen Research Alliance initiatives in the fields of Research Data Management (RDM) and Data Science are bundled, NFDI consortia in which member institutions are involved are connected locally, and synergy effects are used for joint activities.
